July 11, 2008
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – All-America diver Jeremy Stultz earned the 2007-08 Big East Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award for his excellence in academics and athletics, as announced by the conference Friday afternoon. Stultz is one of 21 student-athletes to earn this distinction and is the lone honoree for men’s swimming and diving after being named the 2007-08 Aeropostale/Big East Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, he was one of 58 recipients of the NCAA Winter Postgraduate Scholarship earlier this summer. A Blue-Gold awardee, Stultz was also a two-time team captain, two-time Big East Diver of the Year and is a four-time Big East Champion in diving. As a junior, Stultz won the 3M diving event at the NCAA Diving Zones and became Pitt's first All-America selection since 1997 when he placed seventh on the 3M board at the 2007 NCAA Championships. In the classroom, Stultz earned Big East Academic All-Star accolades three years, and made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll each year. He has been a Pitt Academic Achievement awardee, a member of the Dean’s List every year, four-time recipient of the Pitt Gold Club and a two-time recipient of the Pharmacy Dean's Honor list. Eligibility for the Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award includes academic and athletic success combined with volunteer and community service projects. Student-athletes must also be a junior with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
